JD’s Crepe Company
3125 N. Calumet Avenue

Valparaiso IN
Payment methods: cash, credit
Vibe: Small sit down restaurant/cafe style place. You can watch them make your crepes through a glass window separating their “kitchen” from the dining area.
Eats: Crepes of course! They offer the “traditional” breakfast style crepes with fruit fillings but also a variety of lunch crepes that give that interesting twist to the traditional breakfast item.
Cost: $$$$$ costs under $10 per meal

What I had:

Mediterranean Crepe

Feta cheese, spinach, pesto and red onions. You had me at first bite! I wasn’t sure how a lunch crepe would really taste…amazing! I was surprised how big a small crepe was in the first place. My friend who was with me got a large Baja Chicken Crepe and it was gigantic! There were so many delicious sounding choices, plus a build your own option.

From the outside this place doesn’t seem like much. I would definitely stop in if you’re in the area. It’s not just a breakfast place! It is small, only had ten booths and you order at the counter. It has a certain charm to it though. I give this place 5 stars! Way to make such a unique menu!

Uptown Cafe

1400 E. Lincolnway

Valparaiso IN

Payment methods: cash, credit, gift cards
Vibe: artsy, eco-friendly, college student hangout. They have bands play once in a while. Artwork hangs all over the walls. They have a cute fireplace on one end and a mixture of tables and chair and big fluffy couches. Beautiful little cafe.
Eats: bistro like food. Breakfast and lunch/dinner. They always have Quiche yumyumyum
Drinks: COFFEE! Tea and also Bubble Tea
Non-smoking!
Cost: $$$$$ under $10 for most meals

What I got:

Greek Quiche with a side salad. Absolutely delicious and a HUGE serving. Flakey crust that melts in the mouth. The mixture of feta cheese, spinach, onions and greek olives was amazing. Great as either breakfast or lunch. I highly recommend trying their Quiche! They are made daily and they come up with exciting and different types.

Marshmallow Latte

As a cafe I would definitely expect coffee, lattes, espresso etc. Looking through their extensive drink menu this one stuck out. The girl taking my order politely asked if I wanted whipped cream…of course! One sip and I was reliving childhood memories of sipping hot coco on a cold winter day. Can’t wait to try their other drinks. I’ve heard their tea selection is just as wonderful.

Caramalized Pear Bubble Tea

I’ve had bubble tea before so I was excited when I saw this on their menu. Unfortunately I wasn’t impressed. It was pretty bland and while I was expecting the candied pears that traditionally would have been put in the drink, they only used syrups.

All in all I give this place 5 stars! Beautiful place, smiling staff, good food. Their menu has tons of great items, I definitely want to try the gorgonzola chips! Yumyumyum! Check out their Facebook page because they constantly update it with new dishes and drinks! I hope to visit this place soon again!
